Statement of Faith

I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I prefer this description because the word “Christian” has been mis-used to such a degree that it can be misleading – both to those in and out of the religious world.

The description “follower of Jesus Christ” means that I actively pursue a relationship with Jesus. My beliefs are not based on my family heritage, religious tradition, or popular culture. My beliefs are based on God’s Word – the Bible – and God’s enlightenment as revealed by his Holy Spirit in a vibrant, living relationship.

Specifically, I believe that there is one God, and he is the God of the Bible. God exists in three parts – Father, Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Believing in Jesus – that he came to Earth, died on a cross, and rose again – and accepting him as Savior is the only way to get to Heaven. It is not possible for someone to work their way into Heaven or to be a good enough person to attain a place in Heaven.

I believe the Bible is God’s divine instruction book. I believe it is true and free of error. I believe the Bible applies to us today. The entire Bible is good for instruction, but for those who have accepted Jesus as Savior, the New Testament is our primary guide – we are not bound by the rules and laws of the Old Testament, but we should definitely reference them in understanding how New Testament teachings apply to our daily actions.

That’s pretty much it. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of other views, opinions, and beliefs. However, the things I stated above are my core beliefs, and I think all other doctrines take a back seat to them. I would much rather agree with someone on major issues than argue with them over nuances and interpretations.

My purpose in life is “to be a light” for Jesus. I believe my books and writings are God-inspired, and I strive to let him shine his light through me, an imperfect vessel, in all that I do.

May you find peace in God.
